You are not a burden for having a burden that you are learning to lay down. You are not failure for not reaching the heights you thought you’d reach by now.
You were meant to be held up to the Light. And not to be inspected by others and the measures in which they use to determine to find the valueof someone. You were meant to be held up to the Light so that you could be grow into more of yourself, your true self, and not the ‘self’ that the world has told you must be. For even in the most well-meaning people can get it wrong. Even hearts with the best-intentions can make you feel more alone in the world than you were the day before. Even the positive things you try to tell yourself can make you question if you are really worth the kindness and the tenderness that your soul so desperately craves. And all of this, absolutely all of this can become its own form of strange darkness. It might not look like it at first, but when it is unattended, it can turn your mind toward the worst possible ways of thinking about yourself and the world around you.
So knowing this, know that in the dark places, the in-between-places, the I’m-not-so-sure-how-I-feel-about-this places, you are being called to keep walking in the direction of the Light, even with these broken things in your hand. Even if you do not understand how the things you are feeling could possibly be a part of your growth, the beautiful thing is...you do not have to know. You can choose to keep walking anyway. You can choose to stand in the Light. Even amidst your questions and things you haven’t gotten right.
For in the Light, there is room to heal. There is room to lay down the burdens that you thought defined you. There is room to be made new and leave behind the old ways of thinking that once left your mind heavy with lies that you were not good enough, gentle enough, or beautiful enough to be worthy of love and kindness.
These burdens may have followed you here, and they may have given you wounds and stories that you never imagine would be a part of you, but in the Light, they lose their value. In the Light, they lose their place. In the Light they are forced to run the moment you step into grace.
May nothing and no one make you feel that you are not worthy of Light. You may have a lot of your mind, and you may have been made to feel lonely, without purpose, or unworthy, but Light is unafraid of those things. As sure as the morning sun does not turn its back on a single place on the earth, Light will not shy away from you or your worth, and just how rich and golden it is, high above the hills of your heaviest burdens.
You are not a burden. You are not failure. You are more than what darkness has said you would be. You are more than every late-night thought, every early-morning worry, every wave of anxiety, every fear, and every doubt.
